Final report of the project LIFE Naturaviva
The final report of the LIFE Naturaviva project collects and describes the activities that all project partners carried out over the five years of the project.

Nature interpretation plan for KP Goričko
In a comprehensive nature interpretation plan (action B8.3) guidelines for the planning and appropriate design of interpretive trails, guidance, interpretation tables, counters and other equipment for the interpretation of the natural and cultural heritage in the Goričko Landscape Park have been prepared.

Layman’s Report LIFE NATURAVIVA
The Layman’s report (action D1.5) briefly presents the achievements of the LIFE NATURAVIVA project (goals, actions and results) to inform a broader target groups. The report is printed in 500 copies and distributed to the general public.

TNP – Junior newsletter 2022
We released fifth issue of the newsletter prepared for the youngest visitors of the Triglav National Park, where they can learn everything about the Triglav National Park and its fantastic biodiversity. We have distributed the newsletter to more than 7000 children from 38 primary schools and it is also freely available in the park’s info centers.

Poster: Treasures of TNP
To celebrate the Triglav National Park’s 40th anniversary, we have released a poster showcasing its diversity and richness. It features 40 characteristic species of plants and animals found in different habitats within the Park.

MAGICAL NATURE 2021
The Association of Slovenian Nature Photographers organized the International competition of nature photography Magical Nature 2021 (B7). The catalogue consists of best photographs from six categories: Mammals, Birds, Other animals, Plants, Landscapes, Man and nature.

Biodiversity panels
Each of the LIFE Naturaviva partner parks (KP Goričko, NRP, KPLB, TNP, RP Kozjansko) prepared panel of biodiversity typical for their area (D1.7). When more of them put together, they will work as an attractive promotional wall.

The last of three supplements to the “Zelena dežela” (Green Land) newsletter, which has a circulation of 94,000 and is received by almost all owners of agricultural and forest land. In it, experts present various areas of biodiversity in connection with agriculture and examples of good farming practices.

001 Living Treasure Hunt
The game Living Treasure Hunt is intended for learning about biodiversity in the forest. It is suitable for kindergartens and the 1st triad of primary schools. It can be done outdoors or in the classroom.

002 Find your tree
Through the game Find your tree, children learn about the diversity of tree species with the help of their senses. The selected tree is identified by groping and hugging. The game is suitable for kindergarten, and the 1st and 2nd triad of primary school.

003 What’s in the bag?
By feeling, children find out which natural material collected in the forest is hidden in the bag. The game is suitable for kindergarten, and the 1st and 2nd triad of primary school.

004 Let’s paint the forest
Through the activity, children learn that tree species differ from each other in bark and leaf shapes. The activity is suitable for kindergartens and the 1st triad of primary schools.

005 Squirrel and thieves
With the game Squirrel and thieves, children get to know the life of a squirrel, find out what it eats and how to prepare for winter. A squirrel coloring book is also included in the game. The game is suitable for kindergarten, and the 1st and 2nd triad of primary school.

006 Bats and moths
Through play, children get to know the life of bats, find out what they eat and how they perceive their prey (echolocation). The coloring book Bats and moths and the video The Importance of Bats are included. The game is suitable for kindergarten, and the 1st and 2nd triad of primary school.

007 I move like an animal
Through physical activity, children learn that animals move in different ways. Physical activities for the more adventurous children have been added. Coloring books of animals that are imitated during the game are also included. The game is suitable for kindergarten, and the 1st and 2nd triad of primary school.

008 Tracking animals
Children learn that the presence of animals in an area can be determined based on their footprints. The activity encourages children to observe. They learn how to make an animal footprint out of plaster. The activity is suitable for kindergarten, and the 1st and 2nd triad of primary school.

009 Giant tree
In nature, we encounter different sizes of trees, both high and thick. This time we are looking for the thickest trees, which we measure with our bodies. The activity is suitable for kindergarten, and the 1st and 2nd triad of primary school.

010 How old is the tree
If we accidentally come across a sawed tree in the forest, we can try to determine its age. We can also bring sawn parts of different trees to school. The activity is suitable for primary school.

011 Determining forest quality
Children learn about the importance of trees with hollows, who carves them and who lives in them. Children look for trees with hollows and determine the quality of the forest. The activity is suitable for kindergartens and the 1st and 2nd triad of primary schools.

Game – Earthworm breeding ground
By making their own earthworm breeding ground, children learn about the importance of biodiversity and observe what the movement of substances in nature looks like. By caring for living animals, they learn to take responsibility for living beings and become aware of the importance of all living things for both humans and nature.

Leave some Sava River to me!
The campaign of city posters in Litija, Ljubljana and Kranj presents fishes from the Sava River, especially endangered species. Short slogan Leave some Sava River to me!, chosen according to the principles of communication strategy (short, striking slogans), it gives voice to otherwise silent fishes, personifies them in a unique way and thus addresses a passing observer.

Game – Diversity of species
In the game Diversity of species, children learn about eight different species of organisms. They get to know their characteristics through photographs and conversation. The species presented can also be colored.

The wonderful diversity of life – the explanation of the topics for discussion
In the leaflet The wonderful diversity of life we suggested topics for conversation with children. Some topics are very simple, and some may require further explanation. For easier work, we have therefore prepared short answers and descriptions of the topics.

Outdoor exhibition Biodiversity of Slovenia
The outdoor photo exhibition Biodiversity of Slovenia (B1.2) presents a part of our beautiful nature on 80 panels and shows us its variety. From 14 May to 1 July 2021, it was exhibited at the Jakopič promenade in Ljubljana’s Tivoli Park, and is now continuing its journey through Slovenia.

Exhibition Environmental stories
The exhibition Environmental stories is based on the booklet of the same name, which was published in Kozjansko Park at the end of 2020. It contains 11 interesting “environmental” stories, which are supplemented by works of art by primary school students. The exhibition presents a selection of fine art works created with crayons, and some interesting parts of the stories, which we hope will inspire you to continue reading.

4th News for households in Goričko
A fourth newsletter for Goričko households named »Biodiversity and Water« was published on 22. march, World Water Day. In the newsletter are presented freshwater habitats of Goričko Nature Park, their importance in preserving clean water resources and high level of local biodiversity in these habitats.

Brochure ENVIRONMENTAL STORIES
In December 2020, we released a collection of eleven interesting stories from nature. The stories in this colourful booklet are accompanied by drawings by elementary students from the protected area of the Kozjansko Regional Park (Kozje, Lesično, Bistrica ob Sotli, Bizeljsko, Podčetrtek, Artiče, Koprivnica and Pišece). These interesting short stories bring us closer to understanding the interconnection of living things in nature.

Leaflet The wonderful diversity of life was prepared as presentation of biodiversity to kindergarten children (B3.2). There is explained what biodiversity is and why it is important, why it is disappearing and how we can protect it; including the suggestions for conversations and activities that make it easier for children to understand.

The Triglav National Park publication One with Nature, Along the Magnificent trails of the Julian Alps (B8.4) aims to guide the visitors of protected area of the National Park and direct them to the less significant nature conservation areas. Main theme of the publication is biodiversity and the importance of its conservation for future generations.

3rd News for households in Goričko
In the third issue of our Newsletter is presented connection between people, cultural landscape and biodiversity of Goričko. In the issue there are presented several habitats of Goričko and typical plant and animal species of cultural landscape. On the last page you can check advices on preserving rich cultural landscape and solve crossword.

Bookmarks
On the bookmarks we presented some already well known figures from the colouring book The guardian of treasures, with short descriptions of the species. We also published coloured bookmarks of four seasons in the Ljubljana marsh, on which some animal and plant species from this area are presented. There are 10 different motives of bookmarks.

Informational boards at Roje meadow
Panels placed at Roje meadow are representing basic information about why this grassland is so special, why grasslands in nature are endangered and how, with appropriate management, the grassland biodiversity can be conserved or even increased. Whiles one of the panels presents plant biodiversity on this grasslands with some of the most interesting species exposed, the other presents animal diversity and the importance of grasslands for the pollinators.

Information boards for the educational trail about biodiversity and agriculture
We prepared 11 information boards for the educational trail about biodiversity and agriculture in Grm Novo mesto – Center of Biotechnics and Tourism (B4.1). The information about biodiversity in agriculture, flowering meadows, meadow orchards, hedgerows, wetlands and ecosystem services important for agriculture is provided.

We prepared worksheets for students of primary and secondary schools, to help them explore the educational trail about biodiversity and agriculture in the Grm Novo mesto – Center of Biotechnics and Tourism (B4.1). Worksheets are used for guided tours and are also suitable for independent exploration of the educational trail.

Ljubljana moor trough stamps
In the publication Ljubljana moor trough stamps the story about the Ljubljana marsh is presented on the stamps, which were published by the Post of Slovenia in the recent years. The motives of plant and animal species typical for the Ljubljana marsh are presented, as well as motives of rich cultural heritage and important personalities who created it, wrote about it or have been in some other ways connected to it. The booklet was published by Ljubljana Marsh Nature Park in 1.000 copies.

Leaflet Podsreda castle trail was prepared when new educational trail in the Kozjansko Park was arranged in the frame of our project. In the leaflet is a map with marked trail and information boards, with which you will explore the exceptional biotic diversity and rich cultural heritage of this area.

Biodiversity is our ally in production of food, therefore wey depend on it in future times and need to take good care to sustainably produce food while preserving biodiversity. Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry of Slovenia (CAFS) in collaboration with National Institute of Biology (NIB) has prepared a leaflet to highlight the key elements in agricultural landscape that significantly conserve biodiversity needed for agriculture.

A brooch of Life Naturaviva project with otter
The luxury of life on the planet in all its forms and interactions – this is BIODIVERSITY. Without it, there is no air that we breathe, no water that we drink and no food that we eat. There is a bumblebee in the cherry blossom; there is an earthworm in the soil, a lark above the field and a minnow in the stream. There is also an otter, which crosses the dune in a dawn and leaves its signature in the sand. Let’s sign the commitment to preserve biodiversity! Let’s sign for life!

SLOVENIA, EUROPEAN BIODIVERSITY PARK – a colouring book for slightly older curious people
The rich biodiversity of our country could also be learned in an active way: by colouring the plants and animals from different living environments, from the Alpine highlands to the lowland forests along the Mura River. Colouring will be varied as our living world is and at the same time fun and educational. Illustrations were drawn by Vasja Koman.

Biodiversity on display panels
Slovenia has high biodiversity due to the crossing of four geographic regions. The exhibition consists of 10 panels, which represent biodiversity of various ecosystems. Each ecosystem is a living space with its own characteristics; however, biodiversity gives it a distinctive mark.

Biodiversity and its significance for humanity are under-recognised values and hence underestimated. We have published a brochure to bring biodiversity closer to everyone. It is important to be aware that we need biodiversity and to know what endangers it. Together we can protect it better.

2nd News for households in Goričko
Biodiversity in the garden and orchard is presented in the second issue of our Newsletter. Because of their vicinity to humans, both important habitats are often overlooked as an habitat of plants and animals. Presentation of garden biodiversity is enriched with a short summary of the two lectures on the importance of maintaining biodiverse gardens.

TNP – Junior newsletter
Newsletter is prepared for the youngest visitors of the Triglav National Park, where they can learn everything about the fantastic diversity of life – biodiversity. We have distributed the newsletter to more than 7000 pupils from 39 primary schools and it is also freely available in park’s info centers.

Coloring book “The guardian of treasures”
The coloring book with different animal and plant species typical for the Ljubljana marsh presents the biodiversity to the young generation – children. In the Krajinski park Ljubljansko barje we will distribute it at our activities in kindergartens, schools and other events inside and outside the park (D.1).

Promotional materials
We created first promotional material (D.1). Pens are made of recycled materials (paper and plastic) and wood. Caps are practical to use in the field. Magnets were made by organization of workers with disabilities and promote five project flagship species. T-shirts promote project design and logos.

The advertising campaign on posters in cities will promote biodiversity in Slovenia (B.1). With the first motives, we want to present the concept of biodiversity to the public. The first version of the poster includes images of fauna and flora of Slovenia.

The second motif of the poster shows how biodiversity exists all over the world. We selected photographs from different ecosystems and continents. Posters will be displayed in different cities of Slovenia at different periods until spring.

The third motif of the poster was devoted to water biodiversity. We included different species, some exclusively living in water and some only using it as part of their habitat, some in freshwater and some in sea.

We have prepared PowerPoint slides and transcript with general information about biodiversity that is intended for educational purposes (B.1). The content includes information about biodiversity in general and in Slovenia. Slides are freely available for educational purposes with reference to authors.

News for households in Goričko
The first number of news for households in Goričko protected area (D.1) was published and is dedicated to biodiversity in the forest. More than 8,300 households in the area of Goričko Nature Park will receive the printed news. In the future, we will use it as material at different events of the project.

Communication strategy
The first year of the project was devoted to the preparation of the communication strategy of the project (A.1). Strategy is a result of joint work of all project members that participated at two workshops under the guidance and advice of the expert in nature conservation communication, Špela Polak.

Promotion poster for schools
For the promotion of project activities for elementary school pupils, we prepared a promotional poster (B.3) with a very colorful species of bird that lives also in Slovenia – European bee-eater (Merops apiaster). Posters will be distributed to schools throughout Slovenia.

Magical Nature 2017
Catalog of the international competition of nature photography Magical Nature 2017 (B.7) exhibits selection of best photographs from six categories: Mammals, Birds, Other animals, Plants, Natural Landscapes, Man and nature. The competition was organized by the Association of Slovenian Nature Photographers.

Poster about wild bees
Together with Municipality of Ljubljana, we printed posters about wild bees and wild pollinators. So far, over 500 species of bees have been found in Slovenia. Wild pollinators, including bees, bumblebees and wasps, are important for biodiversity and ecosystem services of pollination for food production.
